Tampa Bay Area Pet Shelters Ask to Donate Locally on #GivingTuesday

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Animal shelters in the Tampa Bay area are asking for donations on #GivingTuesday as they continue to grapple with the impacts of Hurricane Ian.

The Humane Society of Pinellas County says it is facing an ongoing need for food, supplies, and financial support to care for the animals in its shelter. The shelter typically houses about 260 animals, but that number has increased to over 320 in the aftermath of the hurricane.

The SPCA Tampa Bay is also asking for donations to help with its efforts to care for animals affected by Hurricane Ian. The shelter has been providing temporary housing for animals displaced by the hurricane, and it has also been working to reunite lost and found pets with their owners.

“We are doing everything we can to help the animals in our community,” said SPCA Tampa Bay CEO Martha Boden. “We are so grateful for the support of our community, and we hope that people will consider donating to us on #GivingTuesday to help us continue to provide care for the animals in our shelter.”
